October 18, 1987 was a special day for the two brothers and exceptional musicians Michael and Randy Brecker. For years they have conquered the stages of the world with their band "The Brecker Brothers" and - Michael on the saxophone and Randy on the trumpet - have earned a place in the top league of jazz. That evening in the Hamburger Fabrik they were once again on the same stage, but not together, but for the first time each with their own band. The series Live at Fabrik Hamburg 1987 contains two first-class ensembles. On the first release, Michael Brecker can be heard together with Mike Stern (guitar), Jeff Andrews (electric bass), Adam Nussbaum (drums) and Joey Calderazzo (keyboards). The second release is born to brother Randy and his comrades-in-arms Bob Berg (saxophone), David Kikoski (piano), Joey Baron (drums) and - for the first time and early in his career - Dieter Ilg (double bass). "I think we both tried to play the best show we could and outdo each other (in a good way!). It amazes me what different paths we were on at the time. I had [. ..] this acoustic - as we say - rather 'straight ahead' band, while Mike and his new band moved into unexplored territory at the time. [...] The 'competition' was opened in one of our favorite concert halls - the 'Factory' in Hamburg." - Randy Brecker

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
