AWAKE emerged from the smoky clubs of Paris in 2011, a quintet formed by the young vanguard of the European contemporary jazz scene. Their debut album As We Fall finds the group playing with incredible synchronicity, original compositions by Romain Cuoq and Anthony Jambon bringing out a shared sense of self-expression in an improvised give and take. Emile Parisien’s guest appearance on soprano saxophone heightens the energy of this release with his madcap flourishes and register-defying solos.
