"Carvin can bop, kick, punch, and push as well as anybody, but his abilities go well beyond that. He serves the music, not himself. Note the completely selfless Carvin during the wonderfully casual ‘You Go To My Head.’ The light ‘chick’ of the hi-hat and the occasional brush remark are all that's required, so that's all that he gives. It's that marriage of technique and musical discernment that help to mark Carvin as a true master of this art."
- Dan Bilawsky, All About Jazz

"An all-standards set too often becomes a safe bet aimed at complacent listeners. But 70-year-old Carvin fell in love with jazz when he first heard these songs over half a century ago. Recalling that initial feeling, he and his quartet recreate the spark the young drummer heard."
- Mike Shanley, JazzTimes

Having played with the likes of Freddie Hubbart, B.B. King, McCoy Tyner and Dizzy Gillespie, to name a few, veteran drummer Michael Carvin's contributions to the jazz language are legendary. Flash Forward sees Carvin revisiting nine standards, giving each a fresh rhythmic approach. Quartet members Yayoi Ikawa, Jansen Cinco and Keith Loftis rise to the challenge of matching Carvin in technique and musical discernment, making for a brilliant release from this multi-generational ensemble.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
