This release of Australian composer Percy Grainger's folk song arrangements is a true labour of love for Britons soprano Claire Booth and pianist Christopher Glynn, marking the culmination of many years spent exploring the oeuvre of this intriguing composer. Born in 1882, Grainger made a significant contribution to the English folk song revival movement, primarily as an arranger but also as a collector, and the pairing of Booth's unique and expressive voice with Glynn's sensitive accompaniment brings out the individual nature of these charming settings, including the well-known Country Gardens.
