Jiggs' Back In Town is the result of two days in the studio in October 2021, where the American trombone sensation Jiggs Whigham visited Copenhagen as the guest of fellow trombonist Anders Jacobsen. On the album, Whigham shows that he masters all the elements a trombone player could dream about. Excellent sound, brilliant technique and his very own tonal language. In combination with guitarist Pelle von Bülow's melodious sound and bassist Matthias Petri's subtle rhythmic precision, the three musicians make up for a charming and accomplished trio.
Known for his fluent and expressive playing, Whigham puts his very own stamp on compositions by Thelonious Monk, Antonio Carlos Jobim and George Gershwin among others. The result is eight beautiful tunes marked by intimacy, contemplation and love for the music.
