Pianist Michael Fardink is joined by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Paul Freeman for this rendition of Anton Rubinstein's Concerto No. 1 In E Major, Op. 25. The romantic-era concerto is dedicated to Alexander Villoing, the composer's principal piano teacher. It is his fourth attempt at writing a concerto, two were from 1849 and were lost while the third from the same year was transformed into a Piano Octet, Op. 9. Although the First Concerto is the most traditional of the five concerti, a characteristic leonine quality in the piano scoring often emerges throughout. This legacy recording has been lovingly transferred from its original analog sources to high-fidelity digital formats for modern listening!

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
