Baroque Records presents a programme of works by American composer, educator and author Elie Siegmeister, performed by the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra and Vienna Symphony, conducted by Dimitri Mitropoulos and F. Charles Adler respectively. Siegmeister's varied musical output showed his concern with the development of an authentic American musical vocabulary. Jazz, blues and folk melodies and rhythms are frequent themes in his many song cycles, his nine operas, his eight symphonies, and his many choral, chamber, and solo works.
This legacy recording has been lovingly transferred from its original analog sources to high-fidelity digital formats for modern listening!
