Illinois Jacquet was a Louisiana-born, Texas-raised bandleader and saxophonist who was a pioneer of the famous overblown “honking” style of sax playing in the 1940s. This remastered digital release, however, displays Jacquet's more melodic side through standards such as Hoagy Carmichael's Stardust and movie musical hits like Love Is Here to Stay and Tea for Two, and includes several live recorded tracks.
