The Silver Hound and Other Songs sees art song by British composer, performer, conductor, and publisher Betty Roe brought to life by a range of respected singers. A student of York Bowen and Lennox Berkeley in the late 1940s, Roe was appointed a MBE in 2011 for her services to music, and though she may not be a household name she has created a prolific body of work in art song as well as opera, musical theatre, and cabaret. This collection brings together vocal pieces spanning three decades, as sung by sopranos Sarah Leonard and Anne Marie Sheridan, tenor Robin Tritschler, and baritone Stephen Varcoe, all sensitively accompanied by pianist and specialist in English song, Nigel Foster.
