This release from Italian harpsichordist Giulia Nuti brings together two rich historical items—the 17th-century music collection of the Bauyn Manuscript and the 1658 “Le Hanneton” harpsichord by Louis Denis—bringing them both to life. Including suites by the famous French clavecinistes Louis Couperin and Chambonnières as well as sarabandes and toccatas by composers such as Froberger and d'Anglebert, Nuti's performance of these pieces on this remarkable instrument (one of the earliest surviving harpsichords of its kind) are unique sonic experiences which provide an engaging introduction to this repertoire.
