In her interpretation of Telemann’s Fantasias, Malgorzata Malke takes her listeners on a journey to 18th-century Poland, a land which Telemann often visited, drawing inspiration from Polish folk music. “In my interpretation of the 12 Fantasias, I decided to follow the path of Polish influences in Telemann’s compositions, looking for traces of the composer’s love for Polish music,” says Malgorzata Malke. “What I found in the Fantasias, was much more than I had been looking for. Their phrases are truly moving, both the ones joyous in their expression, and those filled with nostalgic reflection. All this richness comes together to form a fascinating and beautiful story I would like to invite you to enjoy!” Could the Polish dances Telemann learned also have an influence on the “Fantasias for solo violin”, composed later? The answer to this question can be found in the latest CD from the catalog of the CD Accord recording label. The recordings were made at the Castle Museum in Pszczyna, the historic residence of the Promnitz family, for whom Telemann was the court composer. The fantasies resound with the sound of an original historical instrument - a violin by the French violin maker Claude Pierray from 1719. The album was released thanks to a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, with further support from the STOART and the Katowice City of Gardens Institution.
