Sting's debut solo album The Dream Of The Blue Turtles is reissued via UMG/A&M! No one could say that Sting didn’t take his time and choose his moment to segue into his solo career. On July 12, 1985, the day before he became one of the stars of the “global jukebox” of Live Aid, that moment arrived with the release of The Dream of the Blue Turtles. Sessions for The Dream of the Blue Turtles began in March, in the conducive setting of Blue Wave Studios in Barbados. The album’s title was inspired by a vivid dream Sting had on his first night on the island. He shared the production credit with Pete Smith. Working with high calibre performers from the world of jazz, such as Omar Hakim and Branford Marsalis, the lead single, ‘If You Love Someone Set Them Free’, demonstrated that he had lost none of the tuneful edges he had acquired during his years with the Police but had added a sophisticated edge. It showed that he could comfortably stand outside his former group.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
