Stradivarius Records presents Abyss, a collection of four works by 20th-century Italian composer Franco Donatoni. Performed by mezzo-soprano Katarzyna Otczyk and flutist Mario Caroli with the Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto and conductor Marco Angius, Souvenir and Orts hail from Donatoni's so-called “negative” period when he was strongly influenced by John Cage, while Abyss and Puppenspiel No. 3 sprang out of a later period of artistic renewal, collectively making for a varied survey of this overlooked composer's oeuvre.
