Digital Booklet
The Tölzer Knabenchor hardly needs an introduction. For almost 70 years, its name has been the epitome of a very special sound, characterised by great homogeneity, luminous treble, precise intonation and clear articulation. Under Michael Hofstetter, who has been the choir's first guest conductor since this summer, the Tölzer Knabenchor now presents - for the first time on the Christophorus label - an album with motets of the Bach family after an enforced Corona break. The Bach musical dynasty comprises about 80 musicians, and very few of them are still known to us today. This selection brings together motets by the Bach family in the 17th century, beginning with Johann Bach, the great-uncle, and ending with Johann Sebastian Bach as the central figure of this dynasty. It shows the consistently high compositional quality in the tradition of this unique musical family.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
