Variations, Op. 41
Nikolai Kapustin; Yu Mi Lee |
7:12 |
South Korean pianist Yu Mi Lee performs an all-Russian programme of solo works on this release. Presenting pieces by Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, Kapustin, and Medtner, Lee explores themes of longing and nostalgia in this music from the 19th to the 20th centuries, drawing on the virtuosic Russian piano tradition along with splashes of jazz in Medtner's Variations, Op. 41.
