At a time when the world quieted and people globally were forced to isolate at home, their eyes and ears tuned into the little songsters right outside their windows every day: birds.
For the Birds: The Birdsong Project is a historic and unprecedented outpouring of creativity by more than 220 music artists, actors, literary figures, and visual artists, all coming together to celebrate the joy birds bring to our lives and elevate the message they have for us about the environmental threats we all face. The project includes contributions from major artists such as Nick Cave, Blake Mills, Tilda Swinton, Jeff Tweedy, Matthew McConaughey, Florence Wlech, Natasha Lyonne, Yo-Yo Ma, Alice Coltrane, Loudon Wainwright III, Greta Gerwis, Daniel Lanois, John Cale, Andrew Bird, Sam Amidon, Sam Mendes, Olivia Wilde, Chilly Gonzales, Bette Midler, Animal Collective, Yoko Ono & Anohni, and many more!
This release represents the fifth volume of For the Birds, which spans 20-discs with over 200 tracks of original music and bird-related poetry. Audubon is delighted to be a beneficiary of The Birdsong Project, which was produced by Grammy Award-winning music supervisor Randall Poster.
