Modest Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition captivate with their variety of sounds, but above all with the plastic rhythms of the scenes described in music. It is not surprising that they have often been transposed into other musical styles and genres, since this cycle calls for musical expansion. Both the version for large orchestra by Maurice Ravel and the interpretation of some images by the rock band "Emerson Lake and Palmer" are legendary. In the version by Ragna Schirmer and Matthias Daneck, the duo PIACUSSION, the picture show becomes a humorous and playful tour with wit and charm, rhythmic extensions and improvisations as well as thoughtful moments. Ragna Schirmer interprets the two chorales of the final movement as a message of peace that goes to the heart in view of the current crises.
