I Am Music, Carmen McRae's debut album for Blue Note, helped revive interest in her career in the mid 1970s and was the beginning of a productive relationship with the record label. The album, which has been out of print for years, pairs McRae with material from contemporary jazz songwriters including Alan and Marilyn Bergman and Bernard Ighner.
