"Musically, this is me exploring my blackness through rhythm. Tapping into a lot of the music that has come directly from the roots, that I have experienced in my up bringing, be that South African house, Jamaican reggae, London Garage, early 2000s Hip-Hop/R&B, Jazz and more. I am a product of my roots and this is me exploring my roots through rhythm.
A flip on the narrative that being the 'diamond in the rough', means everyone around you is seen as the rough. When really, we are all diamonds, and our experiences in life has put a bit of dirt on us. But we need to celebrate the fact that we are diamonds. This is about us coming through our trauma to celebrate our excellence."
