Digital Booklet
"... van der Schyff exhibits a keen perception of tonal color, rhythmic and textural variety and improvised form. The more I listen to van der Schyff and his cronies, the more I'm impressed." - JazzTimes.com "... an expansive set, demonstrating the instant and infinite affinity possible when like musical minds meet ... documents a fast and freely composed concert of chamber jazz ... an impressive and impressionistic set ... this free-form free-for-all finds kindred jazzers in sync and in sympathetic simpatico with each other." - All About Jazz In 2004, New York guitarist Ben Monder performed with Vancouver pianist Chris Gestrin and drummer Dylan van der Schyff at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival. The concert was recorded as part of a planned Gestrin duos/trios project, however with the addition of two trio improvs that ended a short afternoon rehearsal, the entire recorded performance was deemed worthy of release on its own in 2006. Both Gestrin and Monder are masters of jazz harmony; all three musicians are very sensitive to texture and timbre and the subtle give and take of free improvisation. This album is wholly improvised apart from two tunes each by van der Schyff and Gestrin, yet there’s a cumulative sense of continuity and flow.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
