This album highlights guitarist Ryan Blotnick's melodic gift, both in his writing and improvising, which evokes a range of feelings with grace and humanity. Seven of these tracks were completely improvised by Blotnick and his bandmates, who alternate between lighter, groovier post-jazz trio tracks and heavier, freer avant rock/new music. The alternation sets up a series of contrasts and similarities that make this a provocatively organized, musically and emotionally diverse record.
