The Del Sol String Quartet teams up with didjeridu virtuoso Stephen Kent to bring to life The Complete String Quartets with Didjeridu by late Australian composer Peter Sculthorpe who died seven weeks before the release of this album. The recording is a unique and exciting aural experience filled with rich organic sonic colours through the use of the traditional quartet and the indigenous sounds of the didjeridu. Sensual and contemplative, spiky and wild, the works, like Sculthorpe’s entire oeuvre, channel the spirit of the vast Australian landscape and the myriad stories it has witnessed.This is the first complete set of these works, a project Charlton Lee of Del Sol says is amongst the amazing artistic collaborations the quartet has had in its 22 year history of music making.
