"This excellent German vocal quintet presents seven of Martin Luther’s chorales in many versions, typically changing composers from one verse to the next... instrumental chorale preludes appear in Swingle Singers-like vocalise, without the insistent perkiness."
- The New York Times

The Hymns of Martin Luther - in arrangements by Bach, Schein, Reger, Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Pärt and others. Calmus has assembled collages out of the diverse Luther hymns. These chorale motets lead from the Middle Ages via the Renaissance and the Romantic period into the Modern age and illuminate the hymns from the most diverse viewpoints. Completely new combinations of the various epochs and styles come into being. They affect one another, they complement one another, they contrast with one another. From the individual motets, cantata movements, parody masses, organ music, hymns and Gregorian chorales, building blocks have emerged out of which whole new sound constructions have been assembled. A unique and varied program and a great homage to the reformer Martin Luther.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
