CAM Sugar is delighted to present a new instalment of its Morricone Segreto series.
In the wake of Morricone Segreto’s 2020 original compilation and on the day that would have marked the Maestro’s 95th birthday, CAM Sugar presents a new collection of uncelebrated gems composed by Morricone and sung by international singers, that seriously need to be taken into account: Morricone Segreto Songbook.
After the success of the first chapter of the series published in 2020, which received unprecedented acclaim from international press as well as support from special admirers of the Maestro such as Hans Zimmer and John Zorn, CAM Sugar is ready to deliver a new compilation dedicated to Morricone’s secret production, this time including vocal tracks from international singers of the likes of Massimo Ranieri, Florinda Bolkan, Domenico Modugno and many others.
A selection built as a song counterpart to the previous instrumental tracklist,keeping unchanged the pop-psych, dark-cinematic and avant-garde sounds that characterized the original collection. With in addition, a few swerves into the folk-rock of the time, between poignant ballads and elegant chansons. This anthology was born out of a desire to delve into Morricone’s cinematic song production, to unearth some hidden gems that have been more or less forgotten or passed over in the background, despite the innovative level of the writing and the modernity of the orchestration.
