Gracefully mixing rock, folk and jazz, Térez Montcalm, an artist with a cracked and sensual voice, is part of the very closed circle of singers who have a vocal signature. In other words, his gravelly voice is recognizable from the first words. Each album is an opportunity for Térez to challenge himself to reinvent himself. On Step Out, the Canadian singer-guitarist changes direction by diving back into the soul music she loves with a modern approach. Motown standards, Marvin Gaye and James Brown but also Elvis Presley guided him for this new opus. For more than three years, Térez worked in this direction with the complicity of director Régis Ceccarelli and his musicians, Jean Marie Ecay, long-time partner as well as Laurent Vernerey and Nicolas Viccaro, with whom she took great pleasure in jamming tracks and scores in search of new vibrations while keeping his energy intact.
