Digital Booklet

With his new album, Daniil Trifonov begins the cycle of Serge Rachmaninov's virtuoso piano concertos, recorded with Yannick Nézet-Séguin at the head of the Philadelphia Orchestra (an orchestra closely associated with the composer and his music). Indeed, Rachmaninov himself had recorded his concertos with the Philadelphia Orchestra more than 80 years ago.
"Departure", the first part of the journey entitled "Destination Rachmaninov", brings together concertos Nos. 2 and 4, alongside transcriptions for solo piano of the Partita in E major by JS Bach.
