Kenya Vaun may only be 21 years old, but her music has an old soul that will undoubtedly stand the test of time. With new EP The Honeymoond Phase, composed of distinctly raspy vocals and emotionally charged lyrics, the Philadelphia native exudes a rare authenticity and provides a safe space reminiscent of the R&B greats that came before her.
Kenya’s early love for music came from her mother’s influence. Her childhood home was often booming with music from icons like Angie Stone, Lauryn Hill, D’Angelo, The Isley Brothers and Jodeci, which would ultimately become some of Kenya’s biggest musical inspirations.
Now, Kenya is ready to continue to redefine herself with new music. She wants listeners to see themselves in her words, a sentiment that will guide her future releases and overall direction as an artist.
