These are the sources to which Vanessa Paradis returns to snuggle into songs, on an album full of sweetness and comfort, precisely and simply entitled Les sources.
These are so many songs here made to feel good, lacking any pretense other than to share the pleasure of living. These songs, mostly written by filmmaker and writer Samuel Benchétrit who is also Paradis's husband, form a coherent set of songs about appeasement, happiness found, and a healthy and fruitful love. Vanessa Paradis also co-owns a few songs, as well as Adrien Gallo and Fabio Viscogliosi.
Resolutely catchy and distinctly pop, here is a disc that still offers surprises with its softness and its generally introspective look. The voice of Paradise – sweet, pleasantly posed and natural, almost childish – perfectly suits this type of interpretation.
