After having explored the repertories of the great jazz artistes in Barbara Sings The Blues, then having delved into the roots of jazz with Blues Everywhere I Go, Barbara Hendricks offers us today a new project: The Road to Freedom. The songs of blues and gospel have played a highly important role in accompanying and inspiring the courageous activists who have struggled for civil rights in the USA, struggle led by Martin Luther King. Barbara Hendricks has built an original programme in which her universally recognizable voice is at the service of this music.
