"Pianist David Ian very carefully puts together a holiday recording that could have arisen from a single-malt scotch opened up with a splash of water and seasoned with the smoke from an unfiltered Chesterfield. So potent is Ian's grasp of the late '50s, early '60s shtick, the listen may look for the Rat Pack appear."
- All About Jazz

Pianist and arranger David Ian is releasing the anticipated followup to his 2011 debut Vintage Christmas that received repeated praise among enthusiasts of Christmas classics and jazz reviewers alike. This new 5 song EP titled Vintage Christmas Wonderland maintains the intimate feel of his debut album while exploring even deeper vocal textures. Nothing evokes the warmth of the Christmas season more than endearing Christmas melodies performed by a small jazz combo. Ian has opted for this sweet vibe that places the accent firmly on melodic and lyrical content. As the title of both his albums suggest, Ian sought to create a vintage sound, one that harks back to classic jazz and Christmas LPs of the 1950's.

David Ian's love of Christmas music is evident through his tender recordings. His unique experiences studying and performing classical, jazz, and pop music have naturally led him to a sound that is familiar, inviting, and nostalgic. His childhood experiences in Canada, where he was raised, have undoubtedly magnified his celebration of the Christmas season that has become his favorite and most meaningful. 'My hope is to echo and perpetuate this sentiment through music into the homes of many,' says Ian.

This season, prepare the fireplace, pour out a steaming cup of hot coco, colour the living room with Christmas lights and allow David Ian to walk you though the cozy Vintage Christmas Wonderland.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
