Although it was unimaginable for Korngold ever to adapt an original work, it just happened. His standpoint was: "Actually I am an enemy of all adaptations." As a conductor, he was given the task of arranging Johann Strauss's operetta "Das Spitzentuch der Königin" ("The Queen's Lace Handkerchief") for a Viennese performance. He polished up the instrumentation of the vocal numbers to suit the taste of the audience, incorporated lively melodies from other works, embedded well-known waltzes, and thus turned the Strauss arrangement into a genuine work of Korngold. A matter very dear to Stefan Klingele and the Leipzig Musikalische Komödie is the cultivation of German operettas and musical plays, which, with joy and enthusiasm, is how it revives Korngold's new version. The present recording was co-produced by Deutschlandfunk Kultur, Bayerischer Rundfunk, Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk, and Rondeau Production.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
