For his first Chopin recording, it was a foregone conclusion that French pianist Philippe Bianconi would turn to the 4 Ballades that have accompanied him since the beginning of his career as a performer. To complete this programme, he explores the composer's later period through the Scherzo and the Barcarolle, works that display an extraordinary evolution of Chopin's musical language, with a harmonic freedom and a refinement that look far into the future.
