“A phenomenon that was unexpected and powerful”
– The Globe and Mail (on the live concert of Tales of Two Cities)

“I absolutely loved Tales of Two Cities. The inventive combination of music and literary selections coupled with stunning images and historically informed narration was only transcended by the excellence of all the musicians involved.”
–The WholeNote

Welcome to Tafelmusik Orchestra’s celebration of music and culture in the eighteenth century! The cities of Leipzig and Damascus both lay at the crossroads of ancient trading routes. They were both important centres of scholarship and the dissemination of ideas. And they were both famous for their coffee houses, where music was performed by the most brilliant musicians of the day.

The Album presents works by Bach, Telemann, and Handel, as well as treasures of classical Arabic music as they might have been enjoyed by coffee drinkers of the past. In the cross-cultural café, music, words, and images are used to explore the ways in which people separated by great distances are bound together by trade, ideas, and art.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
