"... a masterpiece by any measure and to my ear Gordon's finest recording for (Blue Note)." - JazzWax.com "... the saxophonist leaves no point on his horn's tonal spectrum untouched ..." - All About Jazz "... reinforces his forcefully refined bop styling of the late 1940s and 1950s ... presented a new trend in Dexter's recording career, his penchant for beautiful ballad playing." - Jazz.com Tenor saxophonist Dexter Gordon's 1961 Blue Note debut marks the first in a string of classic jazz albums that established Gordon's reputation as a leader. Recorded over the same four day period as his second Blue Note album Dexter Calling..., he is joined by a young Freddie Hubbard on trumpet along with the rhythm section of Horace Parlan on piano, George Tucker on bass and Al Harewood on drums. Includes You've Changed, a staple of Gordon's live shows over the decades and Society Red which would reappear in the film Round Midnight.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
