Dexter Gordon recorded Gettin' Around in the States in May 1965 on a trip home from Paris, where he was living and working at the time. This is more adventurous than previous Gordon albums due to the addition of Bobby Hutcherson on vibes, an instrument that melds wonderfully with Gordon's tenor sax. The rest of the musicians on this session, all worthy of mention, are Barry Harris on piano, Bob Cranshaw on bass and Billy Higgins on drums.
