Japanese pianist Yukio Yokoyama began learning the instrument as a child, with Herbert von Karajan and Mstislaw Rostropovich counting among his tutors. His album releases have received prestigious prizes including the Excellence Award of the Agency for Cultural Affairs Arts Festival (Record Division) and the International Liszt Record Grand Prix.
