Digital Booklet
"Callas at her most spell-binding and enthralling, Callas at La Scala (…) shows the diva at her most exciting and most beautiful." - Gramophone Coinciding with the new Callas Live Remastered Edition, the catalogue’s 2017 priority, Warner Classics re-releases two of Maria Callas’ legendary studio recitals, using the state of the art remastering done in 2014. Callas first sang at Milan’s legendary La Scala for the opening of the 1951-52 season (in Verdi’s I vespri siciliani) and she became closely identified with the theatre, notably in productions directed by Luchino Visconti and his protégé Franco Zeffirelli. Spontini’s La vestale was staged for her there in 1954, Bellini’s La sonnambula in 1955, and her final La Scala performances came in 1962 with Cherubini’s Medea.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
