This release is one of several albums Oscar Peterson recorded in Germany at private shows for small, invited audiences between 1963 and 1968. The Way I Really Play, a 1968 session, features Peterson's trio of Sam Jones on double bass and Bobby Durham on drums and documents Peterson’s exquisite playing style in near audiophile sound, the original master tapes carefully optimized in a pure analogue mastering process. This album has also been released under the title The Great Oscar Peterson on Prestige!
