The music of Villa-Lobos symbolizes this fusion of Brazilian rhythms and European musical influences: the prelude No. 2 is based on the musical genre of the chôro, while the No. 3 is a tribute to Bach and the No. 5 evokes the waltzes danced by the high aristocracy in Europe. Léo Brouwer designs a very colorful style thanks to the blend of popular elements and African rhythms of Cuban folklore, framed by a neo-romantic form and avant-garde techniques. His music suggests Scriabin's modal writing, Pasquini's Baroque motifs, and the echo of Beethoven's pastoral work. The Argentinian Astor Piazzolla pays homage to Vivaldi's Four Seasons while approaching a counterpoint close to the fugue, notably in Primavera Porteña, which allows him to combine his new tango. Porro, from Colombian Montaña, and Los Caujaritos, from Venezuelan Figueiredo, reveal the lightness of a Caribbean dance and the colors of the Venezuelan harp from Los Llanos region. La Catedral, from Paraguayan Barrios, comes to punctuate this journey in the spirit of a pilgrimage. Motivated by a divine inspiration during his visit to the Cathedral of Montevideo, the composer invites us to meditation.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
