Grammy Nomination - Best Jazz Instrumental Album, 2015 "Five Stars ... a respectful tribute from a remarkable modern music mind." - The Guardian "... proves yet again that the cultural divide, at least in jazz, has crumbled and means little now and that’s something to get on your feet and cheer (or dance) about. All rise, indeed." - PopMatters.com "... re-envisions the music of the colorful pianist, singer and entertainer ... Waller's bright musical canvas is the perfect outlet for Moran's multicolored ideas; a boisterous amalgam of blues, jazz and house music, reshaping famous Waller tunes ... harnesses Waller's infectious spirit caring less about the demarcation between musical genres while putting emphasis on Waller's incredible talents." - All About Jazz Acclaimed pianist Jason Moran teams up with vocalist Meshell Ndegeocello to recast the music of legendary jazz entertainer Fats Waller as a modern dance party. Moran and Ndegeocello host a changeable cast of musicians that includes vocalist Lisa E. Harris, Moran's longtime trio The Bandwagon and a funky horn-inflected ensemble anchored by drummer Charles Haynes featuring trumpeter Leron Thomas and trombonist Josh Roseman, as well as guest saxophonist Steve Lehman. All Rise: A Joyful Elegy For Fats Waller, a Grammy nominee, was produced by Ndegeocello and Blue Note Records president and musician Don Was. The album was recorded and mixed by Bob Power, known for honing the sound on classic hip-hop records by A Tribe Called Quest, Common and The Roots. "Fats Waller is a special kind of provocateur. It stems mainly from the fact that he was a singer as well as a pianist. Sometimes he was like an MC. It has always amazed me that a pianist whose playing was so deep could sing and keep a running commentary of what was going on around him all at the same time." - Jason Moran

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
