"The Trinity sound is always captivating, with its abiding sense of perfection and blend ... I love the engineering, too: it’s direct yet spacious ... the solo sections are an object lesson in unanimity of purpose, from which many a weightier voice could learn ... the clean, fresh response to text is winning."
- BBC Music Magazine

"The performances are robust yet sensitive, a world away from that slightly wishy-washy quality which so many choirs seem to find in Mendelssohn’s small-scale sacred pieces ... the recorded sound is sumptuous. This is a triumph for Marlow and his Trinity College choir, for Chandos and above all, for Mendelssohn’s reputation as an inventive and deeply rewarding composer of sacred choral pieces."
- International Record Review

"The Choir of Trinity College is mixed; it uses female sopranos and altos. This gives the upper lines a warm, flexible sound and combined with Marlow’s approach to Mendelssohn is rather Romantic. The choir respond well to his direction and give some fine, shapely performances ... (The Three Psalms) rank as one of his masterpieces ... some of his most fluid, romantic music ... Trinity give strong performances of these pieces and I could recommend this disc for the performance of these works alone ... Mendelssohn’s sacred choral music tends to get overshadowed by that of Brahms and by Mendelssohn’s own works in other genres. This highly recommendable disc brings his sacred music to the fore in fine, flexible performances ..."
- MusicWeb International

A year after their 2005 release dedicated to choral works by Durufle, the Trinity College Choir and conductor by Richard Marlow turned their attention to Mendelssohn's sacred choral music on this album, highly praised both for the performances and recorded sound.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
