Many musicians possess elements of genius, but it was the great Ray Charles who so fully embodied the term that it was bestowed upon him as a nickname. Blind since the age of six (from glaucoma), Ray Charles (Albany, Georgia, September 23, 1930 - Beverly Hills, California, June 10, 2004) combined elements of gospel, R&B and blues into a fervid, exuberant style that would come to be known as soul music. In Person is a live album recorded by Ray Charles on May 28, 1959 on a rainy night in Atlanta, Georgia at Morris Brown College's Herndon Stadium. The album was recorded by the concert sponsor, radio station WAOK. The station's lead disk jockey, Zenas "Daddy" Sears, recorded the album from the audience using a single microphone. The album is noted for its technical excellence in balancing band, singer, and audience, and also for its documentation of the jazzy R&B Ray Charles sound prior to his great crossover success.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
