"Four Stars. Kathryn Stott's enjoyable and warmly recorded recital has a Latin American bias, an idiom for which she has an evident empathy. Stott shapes the sultry rhythms and sensuous harmonies with allure and velvety touch."
- BBC Music Magazine

"Notching up her half-century has clearly not quelled the joy of discovery and sense of adventure that's marked the career of this delightful artist. Worth the price of the disc alone are Dansa negra ... (a) most enjoyable disc."
- Gramophone

British pianist Kathryn Stott has always loved South American music and her selections for this recital reflect that love. The eclectic repertoire of dances includes works by Villa-Lobos, Piazzolla, Ginastera, Guarnieri and Lecuona, as well as the premiere of Old Style by Graham Fitkin, written for Stott in celebration of two landmark anniversaries in 2008.

"This year is very much a celebration for me: a 50th birthday and 30 years on the concert platform! ... I was very keen to record repertoire which would reflect my wide taste in music from around the world. The subject ‘dance’ was in my head from the start and so here we have a musical journey ... I’m particularly excited to include the world premiere of Old Style, a birthday present from one of my favourite British composers, Graham Fitkin ... I feel its inclusion is an important part of this international and rather special journey."

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
