Pachelbel's keyboard compositions were left open to which instrument the works could be played on. Márton Borsányi's interpretation therefore has to weigh exactly whether he lets it sound on the harpsichord or on the organ. When the virtuoso decides to play the harpsichord, he plays on a replica of the Mayer harpsichord from 1619; one of only 13 preserved instruments from the time of Pachelbel. If the choice falls on the organ, he uses the beautiful German organ of the Reformed main church in Budapest. Borsányi proves not only a historically informed, but also an extremely musical and sensitive interpretation of all possibilities of the instruments. The ingenuity of the composer, which was even praised by Johann Mattheson - an important journalist of the time - is wonderfully expressed here. Márton Borsányi sounds a variety of differentiated timbres and once again proves that this music has everything to offer, from the thought-impulsive Aria to the sparkling virtuosity of a toccata!

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
