Yannick Nézet-Séguin's first album for Deutsche Grammophon as director of the Philadelphia Orchestra continues the legacy of the great conductor Leopold Stokowski, who led the US premiere of The Rite of Spring with this same orchestra in 1922. The pairing of Stravinsky and Stokowski on this 2013 release can be seen as a tribute to a master conductor and his orchestra by a young but equally energetic Nézet-Séguin.
