A brand new recording of Brahms' chamber music! The project features Joseph Shiner (clarinet), Somi Kim on piano and Yoanna Prodanova on ‘cello, and covers three wonderful works from Brahms’ late period, all of which are unparalleled in their lyrical beauty as well their emotional range and depth. These are the two sonatas for clarinet and piano that form op. 120, along with the Trio for clarinet, violoncello and piano op. 114. The recording sessions took place at Wyastone, the concert hall and studio of the Nimbus Foundation in South Wales in May 2018, with the incomparable Andrew Keener as producer and Oscar Torres as sound engineer. The Shiner-Kim duo has appeared across the UK and internationally, and their performances are always underpinned by their close friendship and vivid musical personalities. They have been incredibly lucky to have been joined by outstanding cellist Yoanna Prodanova for this project, who lends a unique and passionate viewpoint to the ensemble's music making. They came together with the goal of breathing new life into these indispensable works of the repertoire, so that they could explore them from new perspectives, and discover their lyrical possibilities with freshness and dynamism.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
