The Quota is one of two albums jazz pianist Red Garland recorded in New York City in 1971 after a nine year absence from the music scene. It also marks Garland's communion with composer and saxophone great Jimmy Heath in a quartet setting rounded out by bassist Peck Morrison and drummer Lenny McBrowne. Heath and Garland share solos on this collection of jazz standards by Henry Mancini and Cole Porter, among others, alongside the title track, an original tune by Heath.
