"Holly Rock" was the fifth single to be released from Krush Groove, the soundtrack album to the movie Krush Groove, starring Sheila E. It was released nine months after the album's release, and marked the first single release by Sheila E. not to have been taken from any of her own albums.
The single is featured on Prince's new compendium of original recorded versions of his composition for other artists, Originals.
