Swedish jazz singer and pianist Ida Sand pays tribute to the music of rock legend Neil Young with the cleverly-titled Young At Heart, featuring Young classics such as Cinnamon Girl, Helpless, Ohio and Harvest Moon in jazz-soul interpretations with all the depth and expression of the originals, but with an added laid-back feel.
"It has been such a great experience for me to dive into the music of Neil Young. I’m Swedish and I’ve done my best to keep the essence of the music intact, but with a new and personal twist. It is the lyrics I pay most attention to, then the feel and the energy that a song exudes. If it resonates with something in me, I sit down at the piano. I try to improvise and sing it in my key, then I just let it grow from there."
