This album features music from the golden age of a great city: the Camerata degli amici under the direction of oboist Jaime González present these cheerful, playful and profound trio sonatas by Albinoni and Vivaldi. In the 17th and 18th centuries, Venice's legendary status was owed partly to the development of the trio sonata; thse pieces are evocative of the city's palazzi, bridges and churches. González and his companions, all distinguished soloists, prove here just how much they can excel as a chamber music ensemble.
